Juice feasting is getting easier and easier. The buffet parade by my kiosk today didn't affect me at all. I had one random craving for hummus today but it passed very quickly. I thought, today, how fortunate I am that I live alone and don't have to cook for anyone. That's certainly making juice feasting a lot easier for me. I can't imagine doing this with a family to cook for!
I stumbled upon the nicest comment from Jack and Jill's blog today...specifically for me! :)
Yours is the kind of story that will make many people sit up and notice and has the potential to help lessen the suffering of who knows how many people.
I am very touched by this. I do hope that, through my experience, I can help others who have psoriasis to make the necessary changes to heal themselves from the inside out. Psoriasis isn't a terminal or disabling disease... but it does take a toll on one's self esteem. It's frustrating to constantly have to explain to strangers on the bus "what that rash is" on your arm. It's tiring to be self conscious about leaving flakes of DNA everywhere you sit. It's annoying to have to be careful not to stretch to much because the tight dry psoriatic leasions might tear and start bleeding. It's especially annoying to wake up with bloody sheets knowing that you must have cracked during the night. For the last three summers, I've rarely worn short sleeved shirts. I'm tired of everyone's perplexed gaze.
It is a disease that leaves one very hopeless and drained. What does Western medicine have to offer? Topical treatments full of steroids that do long term damage to your skin, UV treatments that give short term relief but may give you cancer and finally, really intense biologics that alter the immune system by suppressing it. These methods often offer short term relief, but usually psoriasis comes back worse than before. Western medicine is only treating the effects of the disease and not looking further. Psoriasis is a manifestation of something going wrong inside. The sheer fact that I am healing at such a rapid speed is a testament to this theory. I've applied a topical treatment of coconut oil/msm 3 times at most. The massive healing I'm experiencing cannot be attributed to topical treatments; it is a result of massive internal cleansing.
I'm 1/4 of the way into juice feasting so I thought this would be a good time to make that kind of speech. :) Jack and Jill's comments were a nice catalyst to this type of post. :)
Today I had:
1.25L water+msm+lemon
1.25L celery/collard greens/cilantro+kelp+spirulina
1.25L pineapple juice (with the skin! yum!)
1.25L apple/red cabbage
1.00L coconut water+extra apple/red cabbage juice
500ml butternut squash/pear/orange/date/cinnamon (yum!)
500 ml chamomile tea
1tbsp bee pollen+agave
Today I also did:
Skin brushing
1 hour evening yoga
2L burdock root tea enema
I can't really believe it... but I drank 6.5Litres of juice! This is nuts! It used to be that I could barely get 4 litres in! What is happening to me?
I just want to mention how yummy that butternut squash juice was! It was like a tasty chai pumpkiny drink. Yum! :)
In case you're wondering about today's picture, it's the Buddha boy of Nepal. It was something that really inspired me when I read this story in GQ. Read it. :) It's a great story.
Namaste~
